Laura Cross is the professional name of Laura Holycross. She is a writer, producer, director, published author, and owner of Rebel Seed Entertainment, LLC.
Her family members have fought in almost every American-involved war, beginning with the American Revolution.
Laura spent 12 years in finance, including the accounting departments of production companies Harmony Holdings (commercials & music videos) and Grindstone Entertainment (film & music), and as the Controller in the Los Angeles office of Gores Technology Group, a global private equity firm.
After a second career in special event sales and as a professional ghostwriter and consultant of nonfiction books, Laura launched Rebel Seed Films to develop projects inspired by true events, focusing on crime/thriller, action/war, and inspirational biopics.
Rebel Seed Publishing releases books based on true stories with film and television adaptation potential in the genres of crime, sports, war, and American innovation, history, politics, and current events.
Laura earned a certificate in Feature Film Writing from the University of California, Los Angeles, Extension (UCLA-E), and completed UCLA-E’s respected Independent Film Producer Program. Her writing explores injustice, corruption, underdogs winning despite the odds, and ordinary people going against the grain to achieve something extraordinary.
Laura’s company sponsors several film and script competitions and showcases, and she was selected as a judge for the 2016 UCLA Screenwriter’s Showcase. She previously hosted the popular Film Insights podcast series where she talked with producers, writers, and directors about their experiences and projects, and interviewed industry insiders about their expertise and the business of filmmaking.
Born and raised in Detroit, Laura is a longtime resident of Los Angeles, and holds dual American and Australian citizenship.
Devil Dogs is Laura’s first produced short film.
